VOLUME 53, NUMBER 1 April 2023 NAMBA INTERNATIONAL PROPWASH Presidents Message By Richard Romero NAMBA President As we welcome in 2023, I wish you all a Happy and Healthy New Year. It was great to see RC boating on its way back to pre-pandemic numbers. With a membership increase in 2021 and 2022 we just missed our 2022 goal of 1600 members, I’m confident we will achieve that and more in 2023. I would like to Thank the Central Coast Model Boaters, Chris Wittrig, Bob Tuttle, Mark Grim, Roger Hooks Jr, and the Terry family for all their hard work putting on an amazing NAMBA Nationals! This group of amazing people set the bar high, it’s going to hard maintain, but I if anyone can, it’s going to be the great members of District 5. The 2023 NAMBA Nationals will be hosted by District 5 on October 7th-14th in Huntsville Alabama. I personally can’t wait to race at this facility and meet some new people! Our 2024 NAMBA Nationals will be hosted by the Rocky Mountain Marine Modelers in early September 2024 in Greeley Colorado. What’s coming in 2023. NAMBA’s District Directors meet once a month via Zoom where we discuss everything from rules, structure, marketing and most importantly growth. Here are a couple of programs we are working on and will be implemented in 2023. NAMBA will now have a CD test that will be offered to all members. This test will start as an education piece a later down the road will be mandatory for any member that wishes to CD a sanctioned race. Mark Grim is heading up this project along with your District Directors. As we all know there are many rules in our current rulebook that requires change and new rules that need to be added as our hobby continues to evolve. There have many been conversations in the past on how to get this done in a timely fashion while maintaining the way rules are generated and passed either by the Board of Directors or the NAMBA membership. We believe the only way to accomplish this is by the creation of a Rules Committee. The main function of this committee is to identify the changes that should be made, review the rule, discuss, and format the verbiage for review. Once this has been completed the proposed change will follow all our current NAMBA rules regarding rule changes. Once we determined their roles, we needed to find the right people for this committee. The committee will be led by Tracy Osborne along with our members.
