President’s Message By Richard Romero NAMBA President As we grow close to the end of 2022, I look back at the things we have been able to achieve, and I look forward to our position and programs we will be able to offer our membership in 2023. I know there will always be room for improvement, but I am happy with our results knowing our future is bright. By the time you read this many of us will be enjoying the 2022 NAMBA Nationals being held by the Central Coast Model Boaters in beautiful Seaside California. I look forward to seeing you here in Seaside, sitting beachside, doing some bench racing, and of course stretching the truth about how good we think our driving skills really are. One of the local attractions I am most interested in is the Monterey Bay Aquarium, which is where I will be found during our midweek non-racing dark day. District 5 will host the 2023 NAMBA Nationals at Brahan Spring Park in Huntsville, Alabama on October 14th - 21st 2023. There have been many national records set at this location. The speeds will be fast, and the weather should be great at this time of the year. With the support of the City of Huntsville and all the wonderful attractions the city has to offer, this should be an amazing national event. Our 2024 NAMBA Nationals location and dates have been finalized. We are now working on our 2025 and 2026 NAMBA Nationals. The NAMBA Nationals are more than a week worth of racing. It is an experience, it is a celebration, its sharing great times with family and friends old and new. These events should be held across the country. We plan to bring them to new race sites and to be in the position to offer the support needed to create successful events. Our goal is to finalize the locations of our 2025 and 2026 NAMBA Nationals by the middle of next year. Shortly after our 2021 NAMBA Nationals, Fred Lumb IMBPA’s new President and I began talking about creating an event that would bring both organizations together. We wanted it to be an event that we can all share our love for this hobby and challenge each other and see which organization comes out on top, in a friendly way of course…. Together we assembled a small committee made up of both NAMBA and IMPBA members. Rod DeArmond with the Dallas RC Thunderboats offered to host our first event with the support of District 7. Our first of three events will be called ‘The Shootout” and it will be held in Carrollton Texas at McInnish Park on May 5th, 6th, and 7th, 2023 2022 has been a good year for our membership totals. We have already surpassed our 2021 total membership with three months left this year. (Continued on page 2) 2 2 3 4 5 5 5 5 8 9 10 11 13 13 14 14 21 21 23 24 PRESIDENT Richard Romero 7802 S.
