President’s Message By Richard Romero NAMBA President I would like to start my first Presidents message by saying “Thank You” for your support as your District 19 Director, Vice President and now your NAMBA President. It was my absolute pleasure working with Alan Hobbs as his Vice President for the past two terms. Thank you, Mr. Hobbs, for all you have done for this organization and its members. I want to congratulate and welcome Karl Loveless Vice President, Eric Canto District 3 Director, Alan Terry District 9 Director and Mike Mullarkey District 20 Director to our NAMBA Board of Directors. I am very excited to work alongside our new and existing Board of Directors and Class Chairs. I know together we can accomplish great things. Our Board of Directors have been busy the last few months working together to implement new rules as well as clarify and rewrite some existing rules. We will continue to work together with our board and our membership to make sure our rulebook continues to evolve as our hobby has. Despite COVID still present and many of you still dealing with cold weather we are off to a great start in 2022 with 1300 NAMBA members with a goal of 1600 by years end. Some of our biggest areas of growth are social media and promoting our national events with our largest opportunity being at the club/ local level. NAMBA has many different Class Chairs that provide advice and facts to the Board of Directors. What our organization has been missing is a Social Media and Marketing Chairperson. We needed to find someone with the right experience and hands on knowledge to create an excitement that will not only attract new members but entice new venues. After many conversations with Vice President Karl Loveless and IT Chairman David Santistevan we are honored to announce that Chris Wittrig will be NAMBA’s Social Media and Marketing Class Chairperson. We have seen what Chris has done rebranding District 9 and implementing programs like “Arrive and Drive”. Chris is the right person for the job. Our 2021 NAMBA Nationals were held at Legg Lake in South El Monte, California. This was NAMBA’s 50th Nationals. It was a celebration of our history and a special time to reflect and remember all those who gave their time and efforts to make NAMBA what it is today. This event was hosted by NAMBA and was facilitated by a Nationals Committee. With COVID travel issues, borders closed, logistical issues with the facility, nearby brushfires and helicopters drawing water from the lake, it didn’t look good.
