But, this is the final message, I promise. The past four years has gone by quickly. There has been so much going on that time seems to have flown away. While NAMBA has accomplished much during the past four years, there is a lot more that I had hoped to have done. NAMBA, like many other organizations, endured the Pandemic. Our membership dropped as almost every race was cancelled. I am happy to say that membership in 2021 has recovered and is growing. We had a large NAMBA Nats in Dallas, Texas in 2018. Then came a smaller Nats in Salt Lake City. The 2020 NAMBA Nats suffered because of the Pandemic, but several of us made it to Huntsville anyway. It was a very small event and most of us spent the time enjoying a few days with other NAMBA boaters, our friends. Any time there is a NAMBA Nats, it is a good time. I thoroughly enjoyed my time in Dallas, Salt Lake City and Huntsville. And, I want to thank the Dallas, Salt Lake City, and Huntsville clubs for their hard work and the good times we all had. Of course, 2021 is a different story. This will be NAMBA’s 50th National Championships. The only logical place to hold this event is at Legg Lake, in many ways NAMBA’s home. We have been planning and working on the 50th Nats for the past 30 months. There has been a lot of effort put into planning a very special event. I certainly hope you got your entry in before the deadline. At this time we have well over 700 boats entered. This will be one of the biggest NAMBA Nats ever. I am very happy to say that I was NAMBA President when we held our 25th NAMBA Nats and I will be NAMBA President for the 50th NAMBA Nats. It does not seem like that many years have passed. While we will celebrate the many years of NAMBA and the membership, we must remember that there was a small group of model boaters that saw the need for a new organization. There was a small group of model boaters that got NAMBA off the ground. There was a small group of model boaters that kept NAMBA moving forward, growing and succeeding. The question, of course, is who will step forward so that NAMBA has a future? Over the years most model boaters have been happy to let someone else do the work required. Whether it is a pond work day, judging at races, or attracting new members, the jobs have been done by the same few members that are always willing to help.
