President’s Message By Alan Hobbs NAMBA President My best wishes for a Happy and Healthy New Year. Many of us are happy to see 2020 finally come to an end. My sincere thanks go out to Mark and Kim Grim, Rick and Kim Grim, and the rest of the Huntsville Model Boat club for their consistent efforts to host the 2020 NAMBA Nats. They continued to work with their local authorities and adapt to changing regulations and restrictions. Finally it became impossible to host an event with more than 100 racers, their families and friends. A few of us traveled to Huntsville from across the USA to enjoy a 2020 NAMBA Nats, not of competition, but of friends getting together to enjoy the camaraderie and running model boats. We enjoyed dinners together and the Huntsville Model Boat Club hospitality. It is the people that make model boating special and I try to get with other model boaters as often as possible. LOOKING FORWARD to 2021 What will 2021 bring to us? It is difficult to determine as the Pandemic may continue to limit our efforts. While there are vaccines coming available, we do not know how soon we can be vaccinated. We do not know if local authorities will require proof of vaccination to gather, as at races or club get-togethers. We do not know if public parks will open up again, letting us use their ponds for our events. However, we will continue to be optimistic concerning NAMBA events. We will continue to plan and schedule our races. We will be prepared to race our boats, meet with our friends, and enjoy this hobby. For myself, I will definitely get a vaccination as soon as possible. I want to be able to travel freely when proof of vaccination may be required. ELECTIONS As 2021 is an odd numbered year, there will be several NAMBA Offices up for election. All odd numbered NAMBA Districts will select a District Director. If you want to serve as District Director in an odd numbered District, get your nomination along with the supporting signatures into the NAMBA Office. We will also vote for a new NAMBA President and NAMBA Vice President. If you want to serve the organization as President or Vice President, get your supporting signatures and nomination to the NAMBA Office. These are all important offices to NAMBA and its direction. If NAMBA is to continue serving the membership and the hobby, we need good people to step forward. Encourage people to run for office and make certain to support them when they are elected.
