NAMBA Rule Proposals …………… President’s Message By Alan Hobbs NAMBA President As I write this President’s Report, the temperatures here at my home hover between freezing and zero degrees. This is the time of year I spend many hours in my shop, hopefully getting my boats ready for the racing season. There has already been a lot of model boat racing in Florida and California, but up here in the North, we still have our snow shovels near the front door. The enthusiasm for model boat activities and racing is high. NAMBA membership continues to increase. The growth is slow, but steady. It is the members themselves that are the ones who create the growth. No one represents NAMBA better than you. When you are having a good time with your boats, you encourage spectators to get involved. When you are with other model boaters, whether it is for practice or racing, there is someone around the pond. Take a minute to think about how you and the others represent model boating. Good times at the pond attract other good people to model boating. 2019 was an election year. Both Vice President Richard Romero and I ran for office unopposed. I want to thank the members that voted. I also want to thank Vice President Richard Romero for his time and effort, serving the NAMBA members. The NAMBA Board of Directors has a few new members. My sincere thanks go to the members that have served as District Directors and to the members that agree to serve today. The most important job within NAMBA is that of District Director. It is often also the most difficult. These are the people that take care of the day to day business in each District. Offer to help your District Director, there are times that a District Director can use some help. Huntsville, Alabama will host the 2020 NAMBA Nats. They have a fantastic race site. Several NAMBA records have been set at their pond, so you can be sure the water conditions are excellent. I have raced in Huntsville before. The club members are well experienced and work hard to put on a great event. They have good local support from the City of Huntsville. This is a very good site for the NAMBA Nats. Their website is up and you can get all the information you need online. Make every effort to attend the 2020 NAMBA Nats. There is much to do in this modern city of Aerospace and Aeronautic industries. They have an excellent space museum you will want to see on those days you aren’t racing. No question but that I will be in Huntsville for the 2020 NAMBA Nats. I hope you can be there as well.
