President’s Message
By Robert Holland
NAMBA President
NAMBA has quite a bit of change over the last month. Cathie Galbraith has
decided to step down as Executive Secretary after 25 years of service and Al Waters
has resigned as President effective immediately. Both Cathie and Al have served
NAMBA with excellence and dedication and should be remembered for their
outstanding service.
After much discussion and debate, the NAMBA Board of Directors voted in a new
secretary. With 100 percent participation by the BOD, Al Waters, by a narrow margin
was elected as the new NAMBA secretary. We wish to offer thanks to both Kim Grim
and Bev Bestpitch who were also amongst the candidates for this position.
Now the really sad part. By default I become your NAMBA President. With much
trepidation I have assumed the presidential duties for the foreseeable future. With the
help and participation of the BOD members we hope to continue with much success as
in the past.
NAMBA will also have new District Directors in District Two and District Eight.
Terry Davis will be replaced by Jeff Siewart in District Two and Kelly Groul will
replace Eric Bourlet in District Eight. Please welcome these men for stepping up and
becoming part of the solution in NAMBA. A big thank you goes out to Terry and Eric
for their outstanding service.
District 20 is working very hard to host a great NAMBA Nationals in 2013. It will
be at Decker Lake in Salt Lake City, Utah. Your contest directors will be Karl
Loveless of the Utah Decker Dunkers and myself. The Decker Dunkers are excited to
serve all of you that attend. They have secured a host hotel, made the class list and
schedule. Dave Santistevan who heads up the award committee is already getting
samples together and we are working up our entry form. Joe Scarpino is finalizing the
logo and our web-page should be up very soon. Chris Bopp, Chuck Connolly, Rob and
Jennifer Gillespie, Tony Chlopitsky, and Shane Midkiff round out the rest of the team.
District 9 is moving forward on the NAMBA FE Nationals in June of 2013. Dave
Bestpitch, Jim Piazza and Dave Newland will be putting on a great event. I do
apologize for not knowing all who are doing the dedicated work up there. We will
have a list of these hard working boaters in the next
Propwash.
There is much to learn in a very short time so it’s back to work I go. I look forward
to serving you and NAMBA. Hope to see you all in Utah for the 2013 NAMBA
Nationals. Until next time,
EXECUTIVE SECRETARY
