The NAMBA Hall of Fame (HOF) was the brainchild of Al Metelak, NAMBA's second President. He tasked Gary Johnson, NAMBA's first President, to establish nomination guidelines for the Hall of Fame. The first nominees were inducted in 1981 at the Nationals in Amarillo, Texas. The five inductees were honored with beautiful brass emblems mounted on a walnut and brass plaque. They also received an embroidered Hall of Fame jacket patch
NAMBA International traces its roots to 1972 and continues to grow each year. This growth can be attributed to the efforts of dedicated members willing to sacrifice their time, talent, and ideas for the promotion of model boating. The Hall of Fame is not a popularity contest nor is it politically motivated. Induction into the Hall of Fame is an honor and recognizes members who have provided significant contributions to the growth and development of NAMBA.
To be considered for the NAMBA Hall of Fame, a nominee must have been a NAMBA member for a minimum of ten years. Any current NAMBA member who has been a member for at least five years can submit a NAMBA Hall of Fame Nomination Form. This Form is available on the NAMBA Website. It must be received by the Chairperson of the Hall of Fame at least eight weeks prior to each year's first scheduled NAMBA National Championship for either the Electric Nationals or the Nitro/Gas Nationals. Current NAMBA Hall of Fame members can elect/ induct only one new member each year.
NAMBA International is proud to honor its members who have served/continue to promote model boating. Selecting from the drop downlist provides a brief resume of the members of the Hall of Fame. Their contributions are varied and encompass all areas of the hobby. They have helped make model boating and NAMBA what it is today.
